The organization is trying to improve the health status of Native Hawaiians, which have the highest rates for diabetes, obesity, cardio-vascular disease, and poor dental health. At the basic core of these problems is proper diet, nutrition, and lack of exercise. In 2001 the organization expanded and became the first Federally Qualified Health Center for the county of Kaua`i serving all people living on the island. Kaua`i Community Health Center, Dental health Services, is a cooperative effort to respond to the challenge of delivering and assuring comprehensive, state-of-the-art, and personalized dental health services of the highest quality and safety to Native Hawaiians and to all the underserved people of Kaua`i.
