St. Luke's Free Medical & Dental Clinic provides care to Lake, S. Marion and N. Orange County's uninsured families. Parishioners of St. Mary of the Lakes and St. Patrick Catholic Churches, in partnership with Catholic Charities of Central Florida work with local healthcare professionals, volunteers and doctors to bring St. Luke's Medical & Dental Clinic to the area's most vulnerable. Clinic: The medical building is located across from the church and conveniently near Florida Hospital Waterman. Staffing: One part-time office manager Volunteers: Medical Director Physicians Physician Assistants Nurse Practitioners Registered Nurses Health Educators community volunteers and Eligibility Specialists Hospital: Relationships have been established with nearby hospitals for in-kind patient lab and x-rays services. Funding: Funding is provided through donations from churches, individuals, grants from local benefactors, in-kind donations of medical, dental and office equipment and local fundraising efforts. However, volunteers are the major contributors to the success of the Clinic. Regulations: The Clinic complies with all State, Federal and HIPAA regulatory requirements. Licensed health care professionals are grantedsovereign immunity through the Volunteer Health Care Provider Program under the Department of Health, State of Florida. Catholic Charities of Central Florida holds the sovereign immunity as a healthcare provider agency.
